Frequently Asked Questions
I do not exercise regularly. Can I do the hike?
Yes. We go slow and take our time. We have fun and enjoy nature. It is not a race.
Do I get to speak a lot?
You speak as much as you want. We encourage you to speak. There is no pressure and no one is watching you. The atmosphere is relaxed and
fun. Just do your best!
I am not a high level speaker. Is that okay?
This walk and talk is about practice and improvement. Mistakes are okay. Everyone makes mistakes when they are learning. We speak slow and
clearly, and can repeat everything until you understand it.
What do we talk about?
The subjects are easy and fun. We talk about sports, travel, food, music, movies, foreign countries, and anything you want to talk about.
We've also prepared some topics for you to talk about. A sheet of some sample topics will be provided. Talking about these topics
isn't required they're just helpful to start the conversation.
Example of conversation topics:
- If you won the lottery what would you do with all that money?
- What country do you want to visit? Why?
- Do you prefer dogs or cats? Why?
- Are Japanese people religious?
- Why are you studying English? How can I improve my English?
I am a single girl and am going on the hike by myself. I am nervous?
It is a very safe hike and there are always other people around the area. It is okay to be nervous. I am your teacher and have had a lot of
experience teaching conversational English. The atmosphere is loose and fun. The other students are also nervous. It is a good opportunity
to make new friends.
Is it safe?
Yes, the trails are National Park trails so they are well maintained and in good condition. There are lots of signs so no chance of getting
lost. Also there are always other hikers on the trails so we are never alone. It is very safe.
Is it fun?
Yes, of course it is fun. Past students have always had a great day and improved their English. They became more healthy and made new
friends. Please refer to the comments and photo gallery section on this site.
